After Jive and Sport rocked India, thanks to TVS, the next innovation that TVS is going to try is the hybrid power-train. This hybrid model will hit the market by end of this year.
This hybrid scooty will include a 4-stroke engine working in collaboration with the electrical Hub-Motor. It plans to tweak the bike such that in a single charge it can provide 30 kms.
The bike is supposed to use a 90cc petrol engine and will weigh 115 kg. The weight of the bike is dominated by the lead acid battery. The bike can be operated in four different modes -
- Engine only – when battery power is very low
- Electric only – for short trips & zero-fuel consumption
- Hybrid electric mode – both sources run as per the programmed strategy
- Hybrid power mode – both engine and electric together for better acceleration
The bike will sport 30 percent less CO2 emission as well as 30 percent fuel efficiency.
The few points that might hamper sales are the lack of luggage space and the really high price tag. The scooty is planned to be available in 5 different colors- Breezy Blue, Mystic Mauve, Super Red, Perky Pink, and Magic Black.
