Not one, but three variants of the D3 diesel have been launched in India by Volvo.  Today, Volvo launched S60, S80 and XC60 in New Delhi and have even announced early bird discounts of upto Rs.70,000 which will be valid till March 2012. S60 sedan will be priced at Rs.23.9 lakhs, S80 sedan priced at Rs.31.9 lakhs which is the same price at which Volvo XC60 SUV will be available at – all prices ex showroom New Delhi.

D3 diesel engine offers mileage of 18.5 km per liter and will be seen under the bonnet of all these three models.  2.0 liter D3 diesel with five cylinders offers power of 163 bhp and 400 Nm of peak torque.  For starters all Volvo cars will be brought into the country as Completely Built up Units but will think of assembling certain models within India once sales figures increase.  The company has also announced their intentions to increase their showrooms and dealer outlets in India as they hope to take on larger auto giants such as BMW, Audi and Mercedes Benz.
