Bajaj Auto owns 40% of KTM which they purchased about 5 years ago said Mr. Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director of Bajaj Auto. After investing in Probiking in 2003 and since then were setting their sights on owning exclusive distribution for a premium market. KTM will be selling top end Bajaj models all across Europe and other foreign markets for which the company has already commenced their export operations.
Mr. Stefan Pierer, Chief Executive Officer of KTM Sportsmotorcycles AG said that demand in Europe was for higher end sports bikes and hence the company would be working alongside Bajaj Auto to introduce their latest technology into Pulsar which will be produced at the Bajaj plant situated at Chakan near Pune while the larger bikes would be produced at the KTM set up in Austria.
