Audi completes 20 years at top position in luxury car segment


While Audi is celebrating its 20th year in a top position in the luxury auto segment, the company sales in China are expected to exceed 300,000 mark.  Mr. Dominique Boesch, General Manager of Audi Sales at FAW Volkswagen Automobile Co. Ltd. said that the company has set a target to 1 million vehicles in China by 2013. With an increase of 32% in sales in the first 10 months of this year the company has sold 251,116 units in just 10 months while they sold 225,588 units in the entire year of 2010.

Besides a number of models, Audi also showcased their A7 Sportback Coupe and R8 China Limited Edition as well as the e-tron electric concept vehicle at the Guangzhou Auto Show. While the A7 Sportback will cost ¥728,000 and ¥958,000 for its 2 engine options of 2.8 liter with 150 Kw and 280 Nm torque and the other a 3.0 liter 220 Kw and 440 Nm torque. It is being projected as a family car.

R8 will have only 30 limited edition vehicles for sale in China and will have a 5.2 liter V10 engine with 386 kW and 530 Nm torque. Boesch is confident of increased growth in China despite rising process of fuel and purchase restrictions.
