General Motors and UAW work on plant in Tennessee to handle overflow of production

General Motors is planning to spruce operations at the assembly plant at their facility at Spring Hill, Tennessee.  Here the company plans on increasing production of their popular brands so as to keep up with demand and yet avoid the cost of setting up new units that would at other time lie idle.

The unit will serve as an overflow for production of General Motors models which are being brought out at their other units as well.  Over $244 million is being pumped into the restoration of this plant though it will help in saving $ 1 billion in setting up a brand new unit while providing over 2000 jobs though at a lower pay scale.  In Spring Hill, the company hopes to turn out 40000 vehicles per annum in about a year.

Mr. Mark Reuss, President of General Motors in N America along with UAW President Mr. Bob King will be instrumental in bringing Spring Hill plant into operation.
