KTM Freeride 350 dirt bike unveiled

KTM has unveiled its awesome new Freeride a road-legal, ‘fun’, dirt bike that is powered by a 350cc single and weighs at just 99kg. The bike has been strategically announced just before the Milan Show, since it will be officially unveiled at this show before it is available for sale in next spring.

The new bike is a detuned version of the KTM fuel injected and liquid cooled 350 single and produces a claimed 24 bhp. The chasis is something new and now uses a mix of steel tubes and cast aluminum sections that reduce weight. The KTM suspension is KTMs usual WP front and rear.

This is what KTM has proclaimed as their goal: "create an off-road motorcycles that could face the same challenges of EXC, but with considerable savings of effort and energy to the pilot."

Though very recently, dirt biking was given a go ahead from the Indian authorities, we are sure that it will take quite a lot of time for these bikes to find buyers in the Indian markets.

I've heard that this 350cc will not be "street legal". If it is so, how many of us Indian can afford to buy a pick-up truck to ferry this bike to the "off-roads". This article claims it will be street legal but I have not idea if its true. When will they launch their range of dirt bikes? The KTM dealers in India haven't a clue.
