The much awaited version of Beetle by Volkswagen is already into production at its plant in Puebla, Mexico. The Mexico plant has employed nearly 15000 workers and had manufactured a massive 4.35-lakhs vehicles last year.
The company has no plans to maintain the old version and will be discontinuing it as the production of the new Beetle begins. The Beetle is been sold by Volkswagen in India via CBU and is priced at Rs 25 lakhs.
Volkswagen also has no plans of manufacturing Beetle in India, as it already has sold all its units allocated to India.
2012 Volkswagen Beetle will directly compete against Fiat 500, Mercedes A- & B-Class and BMW 1-Series.
