Yamaha scooters to be seen by 2012

Yamaha, Japanese two-wheeler company, is all set to bring in and launch entry level scooters in India by 2012.

Yamaha Motors India director and Chief Sales officer, Jun Nakarta said, "We have numbers of scooters in other markets like US and Europe and currently, we are studying the Indian market. We will launch entry level scooters here soon".

Yamaha plans on manufacturing the scooters in India at their manufacturing units at Surajpur or Faridabad. The company plans on investing $10 million by 2012 to increase the capacity of scooters by one million as per India Yamaha CEO and MD Hiroyuki Suzuki.

The company has lined up an investment of $10 million by 2012 for increasing its scooter capacity by one million, India Yamaha CEO & MD Hiroyuki Suzuki said.

If this does happen, the company's unit production will rocket to six lakhs units per annum from the existing number of five lakhs. He further added that the company does not plan to open more manufacturing units but plans to utilize exisitng to the maximum by increasing unit production to one million from existing half a million.
