Harley Davidson at present sells motorcycles through its various dealers located at Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad.  Going by the success story and number of bike enthusiasts in India, the company has decided to launch a bike especially for their Indian fans.

Expected to be launched sometime 2012 or early 2013, we still have to hold our breath for some time.  The company is working in conjuncture with Indian suppliers to finalize the design and development of the motorbike which they are trying to fit into a budget suitable for Indians.  The Bike will be manufactured in India and will also be exported to South East Asian countries.

Harley-Davidson currently sells around 15 models in India that are priced at Rs. 5.5 lakh and above.  Since they are imported, import duty on bikes @ 90% and complete knock downs @ 30% are levied.  This makes these bikes out of reach of most bikers. The new model, which will soon be available in India, hopefully by early 2013 at the latest, will have engine displacement of 500-750cc.
