Honda Motor’s new plant at Tapukara, Rajastan

Honda Motorcycle Scooter India (HMSI) plans on opening a plant at Tapukara in Rajasthan, and has declared its plan of hiring 1,500 people. This will be HMSI's second plant in India, with the first one being is located at Manesar in Haryana. The new plant is revealed to have an initial capacity of 6 lakh units annually which is extendable up to 12 Lakh units.

The Manesar plant has an employee force of 7,000 people, and produces a total of 16 Lakh units. HMSI President and CEO Shinji Aoyama explained the company's strategy of investing heavily in India. They foresee sales of 21 lakh units in 2011-12, an increase of sales by nearly 30 percent.

The total amount invested till date has been calculated to be around 1,300 crores for both the plants collectively. Honda's future plans of becoming number one in the two wheeler market starts with the introduction of a new 100-cc bike next year. Keita Muramatsu replaces Aoyama as their new President and CEO from next month.
