After taking over the struggling Kinetic motors, and adding a facelift to it, Mahindra and Mahindra is already basking in a lot of success in the two wheeler segment. In short span of 10 months the company has already achieved 1-lakh scooters, this was intended to be complete by 18 months. With such great news to give them inspiration, M&M is all set to launch a unique bike in the coming months before the year end, 2010. There already are multiple speculations about the engine of the bike, with economic times reporting the 125-150cc engine being sourced from Sym Korea, and on the other hand that the bike is developed in Italy by Engines Engineering, a firm that M&M bought in 2008.
“We have achieved a milestone by selling one lakh scooters in just 10 months as against a set target of 18 months. Our plan now is to enter the motor-cycle market by end-this year,” Mahindra two-Wheelers’ president Anoop Mathur said in Mumbai. ”We are working on a unique product that will be assembled in the same plant where our scooters are manufactured,” he added.
