The detailed plan was not revealed by the head of Mahindra’s two wheeler business, Anoop Mathur, but he did mention that the company plans to add motorbikes from low cost to premium bikes.
The two wheeler business starts next fiscal year and plans on becoming as successful as the Mahindra tractor and sport-utility vehicle businesses in the coming seven years. The company began manufacturing two wheelers in 2008 after acquiring Kinetic Motor Co. to boost the two wheeler sales.
According to Vaishali Jajoo, Mumbai based Angel Broking Ltd analyst, Mahindra will largely need to bank on their brand to be a popular brand in the two wheeler space.
The Mahindra motorcycles are going to be designed by Engines Engineering, an Italian design company that was acquired in 2008.
The company does plan to get into more collaborations and acquisitions to ensure a good boost to the two wheeler business.
The company also plans to export the markets to Latin America, Africa, and South Asia after the introduction in the Indian market.
